The Burr Ridge Police Department is a CALEA accredited agency, comprised of 28 full-time sworn officers and 4 full-time non-sworn staff, including a dedicated Community Service Officer. Our department is committed to providing professional, community-oriented policing to the residents and businesses of Burr Ridge.
The Patrol Division operates on 12-hour rotating shifts, ensuring equitable scheduling and consistent coverage throughout the village. This structure promotes work-life balance for our officers while maintaining a high level of service and responsiveness to the community.

The department is constantly striving to promote transparency within the community and does so by the following:
Village Academy – Residents can sign up for a multi-week course to learn about the inner operations within the police department and all village departments
Community Events – Our village hosts many community events, and our agency participates in many neighboring community events, providing multiple opportunities to meet our officers, ask questions, and build lasting relationships
School Liaison Program – Dedicated officer works with all four Burr Ridge schools, offering assistance and transparency throughout the school year
Board Meetings – Monthly village board meetings share the current events/developments within the Village and provides an opportunity to ask the police administration questions directly
NIXLE Alert Service – Provides emergency messaging to our residents for severe weather or active crime alerts within the village
Social Media – The police department has a Facebook and Instagram, and shares information pertaining to public safety or events within the Village that the police department participates in
Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Requests – The police department receives police report requests and shares information within the guidelines of this act
Police Station Tours – The police department offers station tours to kids and organized groups, to show the public all the advanced technology that is available to our agency for all our police investigations. Tours provide an excellent opportunity to meet our officers and ask questions about law enforcement
